The Vitruvian Code

Contemplating Human Presence in a Digital Wilderness

Introduction:

We are excited to present an innovative art-tech project that combines the timeless genius of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man with the concept of non-binary human design. This project aims to emphasize the enduring value of human-to-human connections in an era of rapid technological advancement. By leveraging the symbolic power of Da Vinci's work, we seek to remind audiences of the beauty and strength inherent in human interaction.

Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man stands as an exemplary work of science and art from the Renaissance period, showcasing Leonardo's profound interest and curiosity in proportions. This drawing represents a turning point in Leonardo's work to interrelate and integrate human beings with nature. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Leonardo believed that "the workings of the human body are an analogy for the workings of the universe." It is also believed that Leonardo symbolized the material existence with a square and the spiritual existence with a circle, thus expressing the dual nature of humanity in his drawing.

This exhibition reinterprets Leonardo's vision through a modern lens, emphasizing that while artificial intelligence can mimic human communication, it should not undermine human interaction. We must remember that the creators of digital information are humans. As AI technology advances, the value of human connections and interactions becomes more crucial than ever. This exhibition reminds us of the spiritual and material aspects of humanity, advocating for AI to support, rather than replace, human communication.

The artworks, presented as 3D prints, symbolize the human voice, words, the sparkle in one's eyes, and the warmth of a human touch.
